Charity & Volunteer Projects

At Building Supplies Online, we understand that not everyone has the luxuries most of us are accustomed to. Over the last few months we have supported four local & overseas Charities & non-profit organisations with an aim to improve facilities in deprived areas and help people who are experiencing problems of disadvantage and marginalisation.

How did we help?

With staff and company donations, we filled and distributed lots of huge boxes brimming with warm clothing, toys and blankets for adults, teenagers and children.

Boxes were distributed to the following charities & organisations:

(CEDC) Centre for Extremely Deprived Children

Laikipia Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Nanyuki, Kenya

The Laikipia region in Nanyuki suffers with extreme poverty and is a problem area for malnourished children. Most of these children belong to single mother families or have been abandoned by their families. Building Supplies Online have teamed up with the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) and the BATUK Trust to help assist over 80 children currently being homed in the CEDC and children who live on the streets. There are, at present, over 400 children living on the streets in Nanyuki and the CEDC aim to improve their facilities in the centre in order to home more and more children each year.

We sent boxes filled to the brim with clothes, toiletries and toys donated by staff at Building Supplies Online. Our donations went towards supplying every child with fresh clothes and their very own toothbrush amongst other much needed toiletries.

The boxes arrived at the CEDC just in time for Christmas which we hope put a smile on all the children’s faces.

To support the CEDC, the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) are raising funds through a challenge initiative. To donate, or for more information, visit justgiving.com/crowdfunding/roger-harnden.
