Sunpipe

A sunpipe or a sun tunnel is a fantastic way to add natural daylight to areas where it looks impossible to do so, places like interior bathrooms, hallways, cupboards and loft extensions.

What is a Sunpipe?

A sun tunnel or a sun pipe will channel natural daylight from your roof, indoors through a reflective sun pipe or sun tube to the area that needs it. A sun tunnel or sunpipe can be fitted to a pitched or flat roof and is a cost-effective way to add lots of natural light, that will save you money on lighting bills, will pay for itself quickly and it will add a great deal of safety to dark hallways or stairways. A vertical sun tunnel can also be used on a wall to provide light where there is no roof area such as in a basement flat or stairway.

A sunpipe or sun tube is of course environmentally friendly and sustainable. A sun tunnel or sunpipe can have a diffuser pane to add extra brightness, while the outside has a flat window glass or domed installation that fits in with existing roof tiling.

Choosing your Sunpipe

A flexible sun tunnel or sun tube is ideal in an area where there are obstacles, as a rigid supipe would be tricky in say a loft space where there are beams to navigate. However, a rigid sun tube or sun tunnel from Monodraught will reflect more light inside than a flexible one due to the light reflecting better in a straight sun tunnel or sun pipe. It has been discovered that Monodraught sunpipes, by adding natural light, can have many health benefits, they can reduce tiredness, and can also improve productivity. So adding a Monodraught sun tube or sun tunnel to your home can produce a healthy indoor atmosphere.
