Why Choose Double Glazed Doors?

Nowadays, almost everyone is looking to reduce their environmental impact and Double Glazed Doors offer a proven and highly-effective way to reduce heat-loss from homes.

• Having an air gap between the two panes of glass in Glazed External Doors prevents heat transfer by convection and keeps the heat inside the home thus minimising the heat lost to the outside.
• Not only does this reduce the carbon footprint of the household but it also has the welcome and beneficial effect of reducing their utility bills.
• With many houses situated close to busy roads, or similarly noisy locations, Double Glazed Doors offer valuable noise-reduction benefits which can significantly improve the quality of life of residents in high-traffic areas or those living close to airports or railway stations.
• A final, but not insignificant benefit, is the increased security they offer compared to single glazed doors.

How much are double glazed doors?

Double glazed doors will cost more than standard glazed doors as they are seen as better insulators and are perfect for exterior doors. They tend to cost upwards of £300.

What are Glazed Doors?

Glazed doors are doors, either internal or external, which feature a window. A glazed door can have single or double glazing, which affects the value and insulation of the door. This is particularly important in a glazed front door.

Making a Choice

Advances in production mean that almost every style of door is now available for those looking to install Double Glazed Doors in their home.

With gorgeous factory finished doors available in a variety of colours including blue, black, white, grey and green, there is a front door colour to suit virtually every possible decor. For those who prefer a natural wood finish, Double Glazed Front Doors are available in an impressive range of styles that come in either an oak or hardwood finish. Wooden front doors with glass offer an attractive look while also allowing a little light into your entrance hall.

There are styles of double glazed panels to suit every taste from stylish, modern, vertical strips of glass set within a crisp, clean, light, oak surround to traditional arched windows set within a traditional style hardwood door. Whilst Double Glazed Doors are more expensive than single glazed doors, the extra cost can be easily recovered with money saved on energy bills.

Anyone planning on replacing their external doors would be well advised to replace their existing doors with double glazed external doors to ensure they minimise their energy bills, limit their carbon footprint, and reduce the noise pollution in their home while increasing its security.
